Physical Therapist Assistant
Amanda is a passionate Physical Therapist Assistant who works alongside Dr. Jordan to help people return to the activities they love. Amanda received her Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University and then continued on to Whatcom College in Bellingham, WA, for her PTA degree. She moved to Flagstaff in the fall of 2018 and finished her final clinical rotation for school under Dr. Jordan here at Proof Physical Therapy. She enjoyed the atmosphere of this clinic which focuses on individualized treatments, often relating to a patient’s sports or hobbies that they want to be able to do pain free, and was excited to be able to start her career here. Amanda is certified in level 2 Running Gait Analysis.
People often ask what a PTA is and what they do. A Physical Therapist Assistant is able to do much of the same things that a Physical Therapist does. After the PT has done an initial examination and determined the diagnosis, a PT and PTA then work as a team to carry out the plan of care. PTAs can treat patients with hands on work, instruct in exercise, and carry their own caseload.
Outside of work Amanda’s favorite thing is to play with her dog, Yorkshire terrier Jasper. They often go out hiking on the weekends and love exploring the trails around Flagstaff. She also enjoys indoor rock climbing, skiing, and snowboarding.
